Hello blog. It’s been a while. How are you? Things here are interesting. Lots going on in my life, very little of which I’m at liberty to divulge.
It’s strange, I’ve always been pretty much entirely opposed to anonymous blogging, and here I am wishing I had one. Being able to write about anything you want without the fear of offending is very appealing. After all, talking about people behind their backs is bad, but talking about people on the Internet is fun, that’s what the Internet’s for, right? Well, here’s the thing about the Internet… the concept of anonymity on the Internet is an illusion, and it has been forever.
Anyways, I don’t really need an anonymous blog. My life is not that interesting. Alan doesn’t mind when I blog about him, and I try not to blog about other people specifically until I know they are okay with it. I really hate it when people post embarrassing photos of myself on Facebook or elsewhere, and talking smack about someone I know on my site is no different. I know sometimes I fail, but I try to respect the privacy of my friends and family more than to do something like that.
I think that because I attach my name to these posts, I tend to consider them more deliberately. This both increases the quality of my text, and also reduces the spontaneity that otherwise may have occurred. It’s always a trade-off, I guess. Because my Mom reads my blog, I am unlikely to divulge the details of my sex life, but I am also more likely to use proper grammar and spelling.
I guess if I were a high class London call girl, I would have more need to blog anonymously. This twentysomething Canadian web developer’s life isn’t nearly salacious enough to merit building an alter ego. So what is it all of a sudden, that I want to blog about but can’t? All shall be revealed when the time is right. Until then, I shall leave you in suspense.
Note: I reserve the right to whine about how bad Heroes has gotten, or why I don’t like the new Doctor’s emo hair. Why? Because I loved them and they broke my fangirl heart.
